Discover Les Trauchandieres

Agnes, born in Canada from an English mother and her Stanford educated French husband will welcome you in their historical Manor house built by a Corsar Captain in 1714.

Les Trauchandières is a  "Malouinière" built in 1714 by Guillaume La Perche des Trauchandières upon his return voyage from Rio de Janeiro where he had taken part as Captain of the "La Glorieuse " frigate in the DuGuay Trouin expedition to Rio de Janeiro en 1711.  About one hundred of those "Malouinières" were built, all by Corsar Captains between 1680 and 1730.

Our Rooms

A word from your hosts

Our guests are practically unanimous in testifying that their stay at Les Trauchandières remains practically unforgettable for them: indeed, this bed and breakfast is unique, not only because of the 1714 manor house  but by the personal welcome of the owners who, having lived in many foreign countries welcome you in English, German, Spanish, Italian,… Norwegian, and why not in French even?
This beautiful mansion located in the heart of a large garden bordered by flowers and in the shade of majestic trees has been lovingly restored for twenty years. Come and appreciate the welcome in the rather fascinating atmosphere of this house with French windows opening onto a south-facing terrace and two living rooms, one decorated with panoramic wallpaper (Zuber manufacture) and a Pleyel baby grand piano, the other upholstered in rich oak woodwork, ideal for relaxing by the fireside. The rooms, comfortable, traditional and located on the first and second floors, are covered with by heavy beams, mostly from decommissioned boats. The port of Saint-Malo is ten minutes away, as are the golden sand beaches. The breakfast (very complete, including eggs with bacon and fresh fruit salad) is served under the chandelier. Come and enjoy this ideal setting.

To get to know us...

Ourlife story is somewhat of a fairy tale..

Agnes was born in Canada from an English mother and French father. At the age of  10, her family moved to Palo Alto,  California, in the heart of what was about to become Silicon Valley. There she met Claude, who was studying at Stanford and who "took her" to Germany, France and then Italy where Claude was Bank Director.  Back in France with three children, they created a  language school and translation agency before moving to Saint Malo to create this Bed and Breakfast (with historical charm!). One of their sons is a portrait artist, the other one potter ceramist  and their daughter, after a first career in high fashion and perfumes, is Professor of French in New York (NYU).
